Hello and welcome to the latest edition of the Write Start Podcast. This is where you learn how to navigate a freelance writing career and how to make more money. Maybe you’re just starting out and want to understand how it all works or you’re a pro who needs to take your career to the next level.
The Write Start Podcast provides advice and suggestions from experienced writers with a successful freelance writing career. I’m Lisa Iannucci and I’ve been a full-time freelance writer for more than 20 years. It’s the right time for the right start. Let’s get started.
This week’s guest is Samantha Puc (she/they), a fat, disabled, lesbian writer and editor whose work focuses primarily on LGBTQ+ and fat representation in pop culture. Their writing has been featured on Polygon, Refinery29, Bitch Media, them., and elsewhere. Samantha is the Community Voices Blog Editor at NAAFA, the co-creator of Fatventure Mag, and a contributor to the award-winning Fat and Queer: An Anthology of Queer and Trans Bodies and Lives. They are an original cast member of Death2Divinity and they are pursuing a Master of Fine Arts degree in creative nonfiction at The New School. When Samantha is not working or writing, she loves spending time with her cats, reading, and perfecting her grilled cheese recipe.
I hope you enjoy this conversation with Samantha! I did!
